Linux Systems Engineer A leading telecommunications company has a brand new urgent requirement for a Linux Systems Engineer to join their busy team to deliver server infrastructure against a given timeframe. The role entails equipment build into the Exchange working on a number of different projects at any one time.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to; - Solving problems in Perl and building servers in Linux.
- Follow infrastructure standard for hardware deployment.
- Assist with solution design, documentation, testing and deployment strategy.
- You would also be involved with training an mentoring more junior staff.
- Integration of a new platform into current OSS platform and configuration management database.
- Assess network and server performance.
- Relationship building with both internal and external parties.
Skills required to carry out the role; - Perl scripting skills are a necessity.
- Linux operating systems essential.
- Strong knowledge of IP networks and protocols.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team as well as with autonomy.
- Virtualisation and storage technologies.
- CISCO hardware.
- Storage technologies.
