Our client is seeking a Desktop Support Engineer to work on an 8 week contract. In this role you will be responsible for; - Provide desktop support for workstations for applications, hardware and operating systems
- Build workstations according to SOE
- System admin of windows environment, including user provisioning with emphasis on fast service and turn around time.
- Windows administration and configuration, installation of Servers and systems.
- Maintenance and admin of group policy
- Exchange 2000/2003 implementation and system admin including provisioning and testing.
- Support and maintenance of desktop environment including ongoing upgrades and patching.
- Vendor liaisons and escalation for vendor fixes and troubleshooting.
- Tier 3 support for BNONMC desktop systems including Servers, applications and network infrastructure
- Reduce total cost of ownership for department by centralised administration of systems.
- Support of remote installation of desktops for various builds throughout the department.
- Support of network and security of windows systems.
- DNS and DHCP design and ongoing administration.
- System support of web Servers including Internet information services (IIS) IIS5/IIS6 and outlook web access administration.
- Support of ISA systems and administration.
- SQL database administration and backup
- Capacity management and forecasting of desktop systems.
- Make recommendations on systems purchasing and budgeting.
- Recommend best practice SOE environments
- Backup support for the ICM platform for internal and customer call centre solutions
- Support for Optus products residing on Windows Operating System including HP Service Desk, SAN Management Server and WIRES
- Support for Operational troubleshooting tools which reside on Windows Operating System including Agilent Analysers and Sniffer Servers
- Create work instructions detailing processes, procedures and troubleshooting
- Support the windows environment on a 24 x 7 on-call rostered basis
To be considered for this role you should have experience in systems administration and applications support such as: - Experience working in a 24x7 environment
- Experience working in a desktop support environment
- Microsoft Server 2000/2003
- Microsoft XP Professional
- Microsoft Office 2003
- HP and Dell Hardware
- Data Communications experience with a focus on Routing TCP/IP
- Microsoft Security and Administration best practices
- Minimum 3 years experience in an IT role
- In depth knowledge of TCP/IP Protocol and associated tools and routines
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 or 2003, Microsoft SQL 2000, Microsoft ISA Server, Microsoft IIS5/6, Microsoft VB Scripting, LANDesk Management Suite, Clustering (Microsoft/Veritas), MCSE 2000/2003, Degree or similar tertiary qualification - All highly desirable.
