GOONDIWINDI, SQLD. A Mechanic is required for a large cropping and grazing enterprise in the Goondiwindi region of Southern Queensland. In total, this operation is 16000 ha and farms 13000 acres of broad acre crops. They grow summer crops of Sorghum and dry land Cotton and winter crops of Field Peas, Chickpeas, Wheat, Barley and Oats as well as running 2000 head of cattle.
The successful applicant will be self motivated, have a thorough approach to work, be able to work in a team environment as well as unsupervised and have a great work ethic.
Under direction of the owner, duties and responsibilities of the Mechanic will include but are not limited to:
Service, maintain and repair station plant and machinery including
oCase and John Deere Tractors ranging from 100 to 450 HP
oTrucks
oUtes
oGraders
oFront End Loader
oGen sets generator (up to 500 K.V.A)
oTele Handlers
oSmall motors and pumps
oMaintain communication with the Manager
oComply with OHS procedures
oKeep workshop clean and tidy at all times.
Other duties will include the organisation of the station workshop. One personal dog is permitted. A work vehicle is supplied as well as overalls and work boots. This station carries out regular drug testing.
It is essential that applicants have good mechanical knowledge and a current driver's licence. The successful applicant will be required to work 40 hours a week and on occasion, some weekend work will be required. Work of partner (if applicable) is in the form of stock work. There is a Primary School located in close proximity to the property. Secondary Schooling is available in Goondiwindi however it is a 40km drive to meet the school bus.
